This paper presents a new method for evaluating the efficiency of school preceptors based on fuzzy number arithmetic operations. It uses fuzzy numbers to represent fuzzy grades. The fuzzy weights of criteria are automatically generated from the opinions of evaluators. The simplified fuzzy number arithmetic operations are used for calculating the average of fuzzy numbers. It can evaluate the efficiency of school preceptors in a more flexible and more intelligent manner.

Ranking fuzzy numbers plays a very important role in decision making and some other fuzzy application systems. Many different methods have been proposed to deal with ranking fuzzy numbers. Constructing ranking indexes based on the centroid of fuzzy numbers is an important case. But some weaknesses are found in these indexes. The purpose of this paper is to give a new ranking index to rank various fuzzy numbers effectively. Finally, several numerical examples following the procedure indicate the ranking results to be valid.

In this endeavor, the authors discuss the problem of defuzzification based on parametric interval approximation of fuzzy numbers and then suggest measure about these points of fuzzy numbers. The measure point of each fuzzy number plays an important role in fuzzy sets and systems, specifically in physics, mathematics and statistics. We provide the definition of the measure of fuzzy numbers as well as the definition of measures in probability theory. Some of their applications are mentioned.

In this article the author discusses the problem of defuzzification by minimizing the weighted distance between the two fuzzy quantities. Also, this study obtains the nearest point with respect to a fuzzy number showing that this point is unique and relative to the weighted distance. Through applying this point, this method is presented for effectively ranking of the fuzzy numbers and their images to deal with and overcome the deficiencies of the previous techniques. Finally, several numerical examples following the procedure indicate the ranking results are valid.

In 2006, Deng et al. (Comput Math Appl 51: 1127-1136, 2006) proposed a method to evaluate DMU's. A radius of gyration was employed to rank fuzzy numbers; however, there were some problems with the ranking method. This paper attempts to reveal the issues of Deng's method and proposes a revised method that can avoid these problems for ranking fuzzy numbers. Since the revised method is based on Deng's method, it is easy to rank fuzzy numbers in a way similar to the original method.

In this study, a model called “fuzzy reasoning model” was proposed for the case when the explanatory variables were crisp and the value of the binary response variable was reported as a number between zero and one. In this regard, the concept of possibilistic odds is also introduced. Then, the methodology and formulation of this model was used to explain the model parameters. Some goodness of fit criteria were proposed and a numerical example was given as an example.
